I am leaving for the Dominican Republic less than a week from now. As you can imagine, I have been bombarded with questions about my plans. Here are the top five questions that have been asked to me and their answers.
1. How long will you be gone?
six and half months. I fly out of Detroit January 3, 2009 and will return home July 14, 2009
2. What language do they speak?
Spanish is the national language of the DR. All my classes will be taught in Spanish and I will living with a Spanish-speaking family.

4. After school gets out, what are you doing in the summer?
Though it's not set in stone, I'm planning on visiting an orphanage in Haiti for a week (www.freethekids.org). Then, my friend Jill is coming down to visit. I will then be working with other people in the Underwater Science program from IU. After that is done, Casey, my boyfriend is coming down and we are going to travel until the 14th.
5. Do you know anyone else going?
There is one other girl from IU going on the trip. We've met a couple of times and seem to get a long real well. Other than that, will be about 40 other students from a variety of universities.
